I think my sister longs to be a giant. For as long as I can remember, she has had an obsession with using tiny silverware to eat her meals. Perhaps it is because the tallest member of our family in recent memory is 5′9″. Or maybe she identifies more with the Giant than his vegetable scaling murderer in the classic fairy tale that celebrates theft and homicide.

Regardless of the rational behind her obsession, I knew this fork and spoon was destined for my sister’s kitchen table.

Since the act of opening a gift is one of the most enjoyable parts of gift-giving for both the giver and receiver, pleasure in packaging was a significant concern. I came up with a solution consisting entirely of recycled materials.
